McGee, a demolition and construction company, reported a drop in profit to £5.3 million for the past year. By comparison, profit in the previous year was £12.4 million.
Meanwhile, McGee’s revenues increased from £121.8 million to £151.4 million, while operating profit fell from £12.55 million to £5.58 million.
The company’s report stated that the result “fell short of expectations,” although it still compares favorably with many competitors. The main issue was delays in starting and completing projects due to clients’ planning difficulties, which led to higher transportation costs and reduced efficiency of additional services, including equipment and transport.
The group, which operates under an employee-owned structure, began this year the reconstruction of the former ITV studios on London’s South Bank.
